Founded in 1896, in Chicago, Illinois by Col. William Selig, the Selig Polyscope Company was a pioneer in the motion picture industry, credited with shooting the earliest westerns, the first newsreel, the first cliffhanger and an early amusement theme park and zoo. Making over 300 groundbreaking films, the Selig Polyscope Company stopped film production in the early 1920’s. The zoo and theme park remained until the 1940’s.
In 2008, the foundation for the re-establishment of the Selig Polyscope Company began to take shape in Dallas, Texas. In 2012, the Selig Polyscope Company was re established carrying on the tradition of the original studio. Today the Selig Polyscope Company provides creative and logistical services for small- to medium-size businesses, film/TV productions and film festivals. These services include web design and development, social media consulting, SEO, and photographic services.
